George was really great, he met us at the airport out of hours, and had complimentary food to see us through until we could get to a shop the next day. That was a great welcoming gesture. Lovely clean apartment, that had everything we needed. Safe parking and a great view of the marina/sea.

Excellent value in this one bedroom apartment with lovely views over the quaint harbour. Adequately equipped as you would expect for self catering. Two good sized terraces allowing you to enjoy the sun or shade. Lots of nice touches such as a mobile phone for local calls and underground parking provided. (Hire a small car). Perfect base to explore the island. The restaurants are few but try the pizza place at the corner pub. Excellent and very reasonable. We would have given 5 stars if the bed and patio furniture had been more comfortable. George, the owner, was very helpful and accommodating. Thank you George. If we return to the island we would book here again.

We stayed for one week in the off-season. George met us at the airport and we were delivered to our apartment. Nicely presented with a good kitchen/dining/lounge open plan area. Two great balconies – would be perfect in the summer. Nice bathroom and large bedroom. Marsascala is not a tourist town which suited us well. Nice restaurants just a 5min walk from the apartment. If you want to venture further you will need a rental car – which George can arrange for you.

If you want a clean, well kitted out apartment in a great location close to the centre of marsascala then this is perfect. Two balconies gave us morning and evening sun were an extra bonus. Thanks George for a lovely stay!

et on Triq il-Quccata in the Bella Vista area overlooking Marsaskala, the Ta’ Kurun penthouse accommodation is owned by the delightful George and Cynthia DeBono (owners of GCM Holiday Apartments). The property is on the fourth floor of an apartment block (the top floor and gratefully serviced with a lift) at the end of a terrace with quite spectacular views of the valley running down to Marsascala Harbour. Being higher up it captures the cool breezes in the heat of Malta and escapes some of the humidity that exists at sea level. Luqa Airport is about a 15 minute drive away and George was promptly there to collect my wife and I at arrivals. My emails with George prior to our arrival was both friendly and informative and booking through Trip Advisor was very easy. Ta’Kurun is set in an elevated position so there is of course a hill to negotiate, but this is manageable even if you are on the wrong side of 50. The air conditioned apartment is basically a large kitchen / diner, and large double bedroom / en suite, and one large and one smaller outside terraced areas. All mod cons from ironing boards to hair dryers are supplied and a welcome pack of basic food / drink provisions was there waiting for us. The Wifi is a bit slow, but very workable. The kitchen has a fridge / freezer, gas hob, toaster, washing machine, microwave / grill, and kettle, and all plates and cooking utensils (all to a very good standard and very clean). The bedroom has a large double wardrobe, a 4’6” double bed with bedside lockers. It is still advisable to bring anti-mosquito sprays / plug-ins since they do manage to get in somehow. The adjacent en-suite is well lit for shaving / applying make up etc., a toilet, and a standard size multi-function shower (with a good supply of face cloths, hand towels and bath towels) which has good water pressure. The smaller terrace gets the sun from very early in the morning and is great for taking a chair out, enjoying your tea/coffee and watching the Harbour area wake up. It does though look out over the rooftops below, so the best views are in the rear terrace with gets the sun from about 10 A.M. The rear terrace is the primary attraction of the property with 270 degrees of unobstructed views of the wooded valley, terraced fields, and Marsascala Harbour. Equipped with a small table and chairs, and two quality and comfortable sun loungers. Perfect for private sun bathing, enjoying a glass of wine, or watching the distant fire work displays over Valletta or simply the amazing colours of the sun sets. George can arrange car hire, and I understand there would be underground parking available. We though decided to go rustic for the week and so it’s about a 15 minute walk to the Harbour front where most of the restaurants etc. are located. About 10 minutes on the way there are two grocery / off licence stores, and a cash point machine. There is a larger supermarket on the St. Antonio road to Zabbar (heading inland from Marsascala) which is about 30 minutes walk away. Just before the Harbour front you’ll find the main bus stop where you can catch the 119 to Marsaxlokk, the 124 to Birgu (aka Vittoriosa, one of the three cities), and several buses to Valletta and the airport. Buses are incredibly cheap and an a hop on any bus day ticket is €1.50, or €6.50 for a week pass. There is plenty of choice of restaurants and café’s, and prices to suit all budgets. That said, all the restaurants we visited were good despite the price. The il-Fanal serves Maltese / Italian / Chinese and an average meal & drinks is about €12 per head. However, the Tal-Familja offers a better class of cuisine which although isn’t cheap, is excellent value and quality at between €20-30 per head for a real Maltese dining experience. Overall, a great value accommodation, excellent service, location, and position. Many thanks to George and Cynthia.

“The place is exactly like pictures and George is a very gentle host. Marsascala is a quiet and non-touristic village. Car is needed to go all around. ”

Great location and price, George is a great host and waited for us until 10:30PM after Ryan Air delayed flight for an hour… but he had a smile on his face despite that. Highly recommended!

Well Done George for “Best Guest Review Awards 2017”

“I want to say thanks to George for the wonderful apartment! The apartment has a great view and location. This is exactly the place where you can truly enjoy your stay in Malta. The apartment has absolutely everything and it is within walking distance to the bus stop( 5min) and the sandy beach (20 minutes), which is most important in Malta. To Valleta 30 minutes by bus. I recommend!”

Very nice apartment. The two terraces are very appreciable. The welcome and service from the owners are perfect. The barbecue option is a real added value. The location is perfect for travelling across all the islands. Perfect for a romantic week.

If you are looking for a “no stress, no fuss, just relax” holiday, this site is just right for you! George and Cynthia are gorgeous landlords and the apartment is just wonderful with the two big terraces. It’s a treat to have a “sunrise over the sea”-coffee on the front terrace facing the harbour every morning and listen to the beautiful bells of the Sant’ Anna Church. The kitchen is sufficiently equipped but we did not cook a lot since we wanted to eat out in some of the highly recommended restaurants at the harbour and we did not regret it. George picked us up at the airport late in the evening, which was super convenient for us. We rented a car with him and had the unbeatable advantage to drop it right off at the airport upon leaving. This service was superb! Cynthia was available via whatsapp at all times and responded very quickly. Thank you again for letting us have such a relaxing holiday with so many amenities!

The place is as advertised, with the postcard terrace views being even better in real life! Positioned on the opposite sides of the apartment, they offer both sun and shade throughout pretty much the entire day, and a lot of privacy. Cynthia was a very pleasant, efficient and responsive host. Check-in went very smoothly. Marsaskala is a beautiful, quiet place. If you want some action, Valletta and Sliema are less than 30 minutes away and the open-air fresh fish market of Marsaxlokk is about 15 minutes, by car, scooter or public transport. Some of the shared scooters were always just around the corner, so going to the beach and getting around, in general, was very quick and easy. Overall a great place to relax and unwind, with many options just a short drive away. Thank you!

Amazing place, amazing view, George and Cynthia are very kind!!

Words alone can’t describe this gem of a place. The photos don’t do this place justice, it is huge and well laid out and has views to die for. Everything you would need to enjoy your stay in an apartment it has You can’t go better than having your morning drink on the front balcony watching the sunrise over the harbour or evenings on back balcony with a nice glass of drink looking out in the countryside. The apartment is on top floor( lift or stairs) and is in a peaceful area.only draw back is steep road to climb back up to the apartment from main road, okay doing it when cooler but not if heat is beating down on you.The cost of using the air conditioning unit was reasonable, 35 cents per unit, i used it a few hrs per day and for my 10 day stay cost 7 euro. I decided on taking George offer of getting picked up from airport,(20 euro each way) and he answered any questions i had on the journey which only took 20 minutes. If using buses it is easy to get around as 5 min from apartment is the main bus station with buses to the airport or valletta where you can get connecting buses all over Malta. Average time to Valletta was 30 minutes, cost in summer is 2 euro, winter 1.50 euro and you can use as many buses in a 2hr period. Weekly pass you can get from valletta which is unlimited for 21 euro. If wanting to visit the Three Cities, there is a bus stop 1 min walk away,( bus 124)last stop takes you into the heart of it and took only 20 minutes .shops for your groceries is a 5 minute walk away with 3 to choose from and a further 2 minute away is some great eating out venues with decent prices. I ended up eating out at 3 different ones and wasn’t disappointed. As for swimming locally it isnt too bad, on either side harbour near the open sea is a bouyed off area with ladders so easy to get in and out, if you go on the side where the church is there is a place that serves great food and drink with sun loungers etc. I did venture to St Thomas Bay which only took me 20 minutes from harbour, easy to get to and has couple restaurants, bit of sandy beach and water sports. wouldn’t hesitate to book this place on my next visit to Malta and will be telling all my friends to do the same.

The apartment is well located just above the center of Marsaskala. The views are very nice, although at the time we were in Malta, the weather was not so good so we didn’t enjoy staying on the terrace too much. Some of the furniture and amenities are a bit old. The internet was ok for daily use, but mostly on laptops. Phones had some problems with stable connection, not sure why. Public parking is available next to the appartment on the street, but it might be tricky sometimes to get a spot in the evenings, but few minutes of roaming around will always end up with one to park. Marsaskala is a good spot for starting your journey around Malta if you have a car

Marsaskala is beautiful, and you have a great view from the apartment. It is a quiet street and House, only parking is a bit difficult.

Logement agréable pour 2 personnes. Nous sommes restés 10 jrs mai 2022 Deux belles terrasses. Lit beaucoup trop mou.

Excellent place & excellent extra services. The hosts went above & beyond to ensure we had a great stay. Beautiful location & would recommend to anybody wanting a relaxing holiday! Thank you so much 🙂

Great communication and check-in with Cynthia and George. The apartment offers an amazing view on both sides with two terraces. The kitchen is fully equipped and we were grateful to have a washing machine available. The AC in the bedroom needs to be paid extra per kilowatt hour. On hot days the AC is really necessary, because the bedroom can get quite hot, even with the curtains closed all day. There was a problem with the AC on our first night, but Cynthia took care of it and got a technician first thing in the morning. Bed and sofa could have been a little more comfortable, but none the less we really enjoyed spending time in the apartment and on both terraces with amazing views. We were also able to enjoy the crazy fireworks nearby in Zebbuj from the terrace. If you have a car, be aware that you do need to spend some extra time to find a parking space in the evening. Convenience stores are close by.

Cynthia and George were wonderful hosts. They helped us arrange travel from our first day, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the week. The apartment is very clean, tidy and spacious and it was great having two balconies – one with a pretty view of the harbour and the other with a perfect sunset view. Walking distance from cafes, restaurants and the bus stop. The 7-day travel card was worth having.

Clean apartment, great hosts. Marsaskala is awesome!

Apartment was very clean and excellently equipped so we had everything we needed. The view of the city from the balcony was beautiful. The bus station is close to the apartment so the connection to the rest of the island was excellent. The hosts Cynthia and George are very friendly and showed us everything that interested us and picked us up at the airport after the agreed time. Kudos to the hosts and recommendations for staying in this apartment 🙂

Cynthia and George’s Airbnb was a good choice. The place is cozy and private, with well equipped kitchen. The two great terraces with a bay view were the perfect spots to unwind and enjoy the scenery. Cynthia was a responsive host, always ready to assist and provide helpful information during our stay.
